Dear colleagues and community members,
I hope this message finds you safe and well. Though this has been a trying year for all us, with many twists and turns, Clackamas Community College is still doing what it does best, quickly adapting to changes while still serving students and the community. Despite COVID-19 and now the wildfires, we have continued to plan for the future.
Clackamas Community College has begun work on a five-year strategic plan, which will serve the college through the year 2025. The strategic plan will provide direction for the college and help inform what services and programs we should be providing, how to more fully integrate into the community, and how to prepare students for the careers of the future.
This plan will help us define who we want to be and how we are going to get there, along with defining what we should be doing and what we need to stop doing. This plan will also serve as a reference point when we work through the budget process each year, ensuring we align resources with what is most mission critical.
Given the recent challenges of COVID-19 and the changing landscape of education, now more than ever our community is counting on us to:
- Provide high-quality student and community experiences
- Respond to the needs of our service district
- Leverage the strengths of our faculty, staff, and other resources
To provide the greatest value in a rapidly changing environment, it is crucial that we establish clear priorities and strategies to guide our decision making, investments, and programs. Strategic planning requires us to be purposeful and to make choices. We have engaged the consulting firm Coraggio Group to assist us in the process. We have also assembled a Planning Team whose membership includes faculty, staff, students, and community representatives.
To do this process well, we need everyone involved. We want to hear your voices and perspectives. Over the course of summer and fall 2020, the College will use surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gather input from internal and external stakeholders. During winter and spring 2021, the College will convene town halls to discuss themes that have emerged from that input, and begin working on defining its next set of strategic priorities, and related action plans.
The success of this process and plan depend on the engagement of the college community and the community of our college district. Thank you in advance for your participation.
